Prof. Hespanha became a Fellow of the IEEE with the citation ``for contributions to stability techniques for switched and hybrid systems.'' The grade of Fellow is conferred by the IEEE Board of Directors upon a person with an extraordinary record of accomplishments that have contributed importantly to the advancement or application of engineering, science and technology.
